The Municipality of Kalymnos, in cooperation with the Ephorate of Antiquities of Dodecanese, submitted a proposal for funding at the Operational Programme “South Aegean”, titled “Virtual and augmented reality applications for the promotion of the cultural and tourist content of Kalymnos”. The budget is around 270.000 euros.

The proposal includes:

• Creation of a virtual diving application, accessible via PC, smartphone, tablet and VR systems. The user will be able to dive and search for archaeological artifacts related to the history of the island.
• Creation of an interactive digital map with information about points of interest, events etc.
• Creation of an interactive documentary concerning diving and the daily lives of divers and their families
• VR equipment, infokiosks, touch screen monitors etc. that will be placed at various spots

My role:

• Proposing participating in the Operational Programme
• Project management
• Authoring of the project proposal
• Arguing in favor of the project during City Council meetings

Our proposal has been approved by the Ministry of Digital Policy and by the organizational unit of South Aegean Region responsible for the Programme. It has received top grade among 23 proposals in total.
