Installation of infrastructure and activation of Syzefxis telephony services at the City Hall

The Municipality of Kalymnos has had the following problems:
- Increased costs for telephony
- Active phone numbers/phone connections not used by the Municipal Services
- Phone cables all over the place, in the Municipal offices
Also, we were aware of the fact that every organization belonging to the public sector, could be a part of Syzefxis network, benefiting from the low charges (zero charge for phone communication between organizations using Syzefxis network, zero fixed monthly costs), in order to reduce their operating expenses.
The actions to solve the problem were:
- Communication with Information Society Inc and representatives of Syzefxis network, to find the best solution for the Municipality of Kalymnos
- From the previous communication, we found out that there was a Siemens call center available at the Region of Evia, worth around 10.000 euros, that could possible be donated to the Municipality of Kalymnos
- Communication with the Region of Evia followed by a written request for donation, signed by the Mayor of Kalymnos. The request was approved and the call center was shipped to Kalymnos
- Installation, in cooperation with a local company, of new phone cabling infrastructure
- Installation and setup of the call center, in cooperation with Cosmote
- Deactivation of unused phone numbers and activation of Syzefxis phone numbers
My role:
- Arguing in favor of the project
- Project management
- Communicating with the stakeholders
- Participating in the installation and setup
- Actions related to phone services (e.g. activating/deactivating telephony services)
By completing the previous actions, the Municipality of Kalymnos managed to reduce and rationalize its operating expenses, related to phone services.
Now, the goal is to expand the use of Syzefxis network to the rest of the buildings used by Municipal Services.
